Mendip Moments Ice Cream Cupcakes have been scooping up awards at the recent Taste of the West Awards.

Chocolate Velvet won Gold, Amaretto Machiatto was awarded Silver and Lemon Lust received the new Highly Commended Award.

The judges were effusive with their praise. Comments included:

It’s official –Banana & Salted Caramel ice cream is judged to be best in the West Country

Banana & Salted Caramel ice cream has been crowned ‘Best Ice Cream Product’ at this year’s prestigious Taste of the West 2014 Awards Ceremony.

Judges described it as: “a great mouth-feel, smooth with a sticky ripple! The salted caramel adds a powerful kick to the subtle, but evident, banana! A very clean aftertaste and a flavour that makes you come back for more- and more -and more! ”

What a great end to a busy and successful ice cream season. Rob Lunnon, director of Mendip Moments, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Banana & Salted Caramel has been named Best Ice Cream. It’s fantastic recognition, particularly in this part of the country that is famed for its ice cream.” Rob was presented with a beautiful glass trophy and certificate by Glenn Cosby, from the last series of the Great British Bake Off, at a glittering ceremony held at @Bristol.



New Flavour Strikes Gold – again

Popular new flavour, Banana & Salted Caramel ice cream, has won another gold – this time a Gold Star in the 2014 Great Taste Awards. The judges commented: “we really liked the concept – a classic banana and toffee combination. We got a burst of banana and a good level of caramel ripple.”

Orange & Lemon sorbet was also awarded a Gold Star. Bursting with fruit, judges described it as: “a lovely creamy sorbet that would make a great palate cleanser.”

Mendip Moments is delighted to announce that its exciting new flavour for 2014, Banana & Salted Caramel ice cream, has won a coveted Gold Award in this year's Taste of the West Awards.

Mendip Moment’s limited edition Christmas Pudding ice cream also won a Silver Award.

After a rigourous process, we are delighted to have received SALSA accreditation.

SALSA is the Food Safety Certification Scheme for small to medium sized producers.  With the growing popularity of local and regionally sourced products, the scheme provides national and regional buyers with the confidence that SALSA approved businesses not only make fantastic products, but do so in a safe and legal manner.

Mendip Moments Ice Cream Voted Best Food Producer in Taste of Somerset Awards 2013

Mendip Moments is delighted to be recognised at this celebration of the best of Somerset food and drink.

The winners were announced at a glittering reception hosted by celebrity chef Peter Gorton. On being presented with a certificate and commemorative plate, Jayne Lunnon, Director of Mendip Moments, said: “It is fantastic to receive this kind of recognition. We started the company in 2006, making ice cream on the family farm as a way of keeping our cows in the fields. We have worked so hard over the years to build up the business whilst maintaining the premium quality that our customers have come to expect. We are incredibly proud of our ice cream and delighted that the judges seem to agree with us!”


Clotted Cream & Honeycomb ice cream scoops a prestigious 2* Gold Award at the national Great Taste Awards 2013

The highly respected Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Foods, are acknowledged as the benchmark for top quality speciality food & drink in the UK. Only 645 entries out of almost 10,000 products received a Two Star Gold Award this year. With rigorous standards, up to 20 judges must unanimously agree that a product is 'absolutely sublime’ during a blind tasting in order to receive a Two Star Gold.

Jayne commented: “we just can’t wait to put the official logos on the pots now – proof that our ice cream is independently proven to be the best!”
